Q-Probes and Six Sigma, both are quality related concept, idea is to maintain high quality product and services throughout the process. With growing quality concerns and intense competition around people are inclined to these quality tools recently. Look beyond the boundaries of the laboratory with Q-PROBES. Q-PROBES studies extend quality measurement beyond the walls of the laboratory and significantly impact the quality of patient care administered in your institution. With today's focus on reducing medical errors, maintaining excellence is the key to your success. Q-PROBES is an external peer comparison program that addresses process, outcome, and structure-oriented quality assurance issues. Using short-term studies, Q-PROBES provides a one-time comprehensive assessment of those key processes of interest to your laboratory.
It would seem to be a natural to start using sigma metrics in outcomes studies, particularly any study that measures compliance with some stated standard of performance. For example, the Pathology Q-Probes program could readily make use of sigma-metrics. Individual laboratories may be reluctant to publish their own performance figures, just because those figures may not be as good as they thought. So we would look to programs like Q-Probes and Six Sigma to take a leadership role in the benchmarking of laboratory processes in the years to come. Let’s have a look on various Q-Probes and Six Sigma initiatives. Performance Reports: The information gained from Q-PROBES reports can be your best strategy for determining necessary changes and improvement opportunities. You can establish or modify procedures, set performance targets, or identify cross-training needs based on the information provided. With a goal of 10 weeks from the data submission cutoff date, participants receive three performance reports. Preliminary Summary of Results: The Preliminary Summary of Results from Q-PROBES provides a brief description of all the participants' performance based on preliminary data, and information on how to interpret the individual report. This report is distributed approximately six weeks after the data submission cutoff. Individual Report: Distributed with the Preliminary Summary of Results from Q-PROBES, the Individual Report illustrates a statistical analysis of your laboratory's performance in comparison to other participants. Statistics include a percentile ranking for variables and a graphical representation of your ranking. Comprehensive Critique: The Comprehensive Critique provides an in-depth analysis of key findings and recommendations on the type of changes that can be made to improve the quality and performance of your institution using Q-PROBES and Six Sigma. This report is distributed approximately 10-12 weeks after the data submission cutoff. |
